You Can't Spell Heart without Art!

"It is no exaggeration to say I was dying a slow death until I returned to art. Art is healing and transformative.” – VisArts Student

Art is what makes us human.

Arts education sparks and nurtures creativity. VisArts’ classes open doors to new ways of thinking and new possibilities. They build self-confidence, teach critical thinking, and model persistence in overcoming challenges. Over and over, our students report that taking classes at VisArts has improved school performance and boosted workplace success. Most importantly, they cherish the safe and vibrant community they find here.

During difficult times, arts education plays an important role in the sharing of culture, ideas, and resources. Now, more than ever, we’re all looking for ways to reach across the divide and see what we have in common rather than what separates us. Perhaps even more importantly, with disruptions in our routines and everyday activities made more challenging due to the pandemic, art and arts education programs are playing an increasingly larger role in helping decrease anxiety, loneliness, feelings of anger, and depression.

Operating a highly-respected, inclusive, and accessible arts education program is costly – and the pandemic has had a significant fiscal impact on VisArts. We need your support to provide scholarships and discounts for those who can’t afford our classes and camps, offer arts programs for students with disabilities who are reeling from the lack of connection and activity, and increase opportunities for homeless individuals, veterans, and seniors.

We're hoping that every member of our community will give what they can to VisArts' Vibrancy Fund this December. Your monthly or one-time gift of any amount – $5, $10 or $15 donations add up! – will make a difference.

While the near future is uncertain, we believe that together, we'll not only survive – we'll thrive!

Thanks for your support.
