Why VisArts?
I first discovered VisArts five years ago while searching for a space to hang my trapeze. As a performing artist and daughter of a visual artist, I felt immediately welcomed at VisArts. Touring the studio spaces, galleries, and classrooms, the place was alive with creativity and connection. Once I learned more about VisArts and its work, I knew I had to be a part of it.
This past year has been a tough one for everyone. Artists and arts organizations have been particularly hard hit by Covid-19, and VisArts is no exception. Reeling from closures, lack of revenue, and reductions in staff, VisArts has been stretched thin at a time when our community needs us most. Despite challenging circumstances, I'm so proud of VisArts for continuing to make a difference in people's lives– the kids who enjoyed our virtual camps this summer, the supporters who never miss an exhibition and now connect virtually to discuss art, the resident artists who create new work in our studios to share with us in person and online, the adult students who build friendships online while working at home, and the young adults with disabilities who stay engaged with each other virtually when many people are feeling isolated and alone.
We all need art – to create, to experience, to connect, to communicate, to inspire us and bring us joy. But for VisArts to survive and thrive in these uncertain times, we need your help.
Want to make a difference?
You can! Just help me raise $1,000 for VisArts, a non-profit arts organization that’s been transforming individuals and communities for more than 30 years. Thank you, and warm wishes to you this holiday season.
Best regards,
Sharon
